Thermal Radiation Of Tungsten Wire
Mar 12, 2026| Tungsten filaments are typically drawn using various dies. Their main uses are in manufacturing lamp filaments and high-speed cutting alloy steels, and they are also used in optical and chemical instruments.
The thermal radiation of an object produces electromagnetic waves of various frequencies (wavelengths). For a tungsten filament, almost 100% of the electromagnetic waves incident on its surface are absorbed (absorption and emissivity coefficient is 1). Therefore, its thermal radiation closely resembles the spectrum of blackbody radiation, which depends only on temperature.
