Introduction to tungsten wire
Apr 10, 2026| Tungsten wire is a fine filament made by forging and drawing tungsten bars. It is primarily used in incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, and other electric light sources. Tungsten wires used as various light-emitting elements in light bulbs often require the addition of small amounts of potassium, silicon, and aluminum oxides during the smelting process; these are called doped tungsten wires, also known as 218 tungsten wires or non-sag tungsten wires.
Tungsten wires are generally drawn using various dies. Their main uses are in manufacturing lamp filaments and high-speed cutting alloy steels, and they are also used in optical and chemical instruments.
