This alloy can achieve zero-resistance superconducting state at extremely low temperatures, with a critical temperature of approximately 18K and an upper critical magnetic field exceeding 20T. We adopt the vacuum electro-discharge arc melting (VIM) two-stage refining process to ensure uniform composition and extremely low impurity content, and it is widely used in high-end scientific research and industrial fields.

1.Superconducting performance is excellent.

Nb₃Sn is one of the A15 type superconducting materials with the highest critical magnetic field known to date. The upper critical magnetic field exceeds 20 teslas, far exceeding pure niobium (~0.2T). This means it can still operate stably in a strong magnetic field environment, which is something ordinary metal alloys cannot achieve - because only the A15 crystal structure can achieve such a high magnetic flux pinning capacity.

 

2. Non-magnetic, Corrosion-resistant

The magnetic susceptibility of the niobium matrix is only at the order of 10⁻⁶, and it is almost unaffected by external magnetic fields; at the same time, it does not react with inorganic acids or bases, does not dissolve in aqua regia, and only dissolves in hydrofluoric acid. Our melting process is carried out under the protection of high-purity argon gas, with the oxygen content controlled below 50 ppm, which further enhances the corrosion resistance.

 

3. Excellent stability under high-temperature processing

The melting point of niobium is as high as 2477°C, and the Nb₃Sn phase remains structurally stable below 670°C. Compared with other superconducting materials (such as NbTi which begins to decompose above 500°C), our alloy can withstand higher heat treatment temperatures, providing customers with a wider process window for subsequent processes such as winding and reaction diffusion.

1.The magnetic body of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment

This is the most mature commercial application of Nb₃Sn. The core superconducting magnetic bodies used in MRI machines with a field strength of 3.0T and above in hospitals generally adopt Nb₃Sn coils. Because only Nb₃Sn can generate and maintain a strong magnetic field of more than 3T at the liquid helium temperature of 4.2K, NbTi can only achieve approximately 1.5T. Our alloy has high purity and uniform composition, which can effectively reduce the risk of magnet superconductivity failure and ensure the long-term stable operation of hospital equipment.

 

2. Superconducting Cavities and Magnets for Particle Accelerators

In research facilities such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), Nb₃Sn is used to manufacture high-field superconducting magnets and radio frequency cavities. 1.Component customization - Precise formulation control down to the ppm level

Note: The Sn ratio can be fine-tuned within the range of 3:1. It can also be modified by adding a small amount of Ti or Ta to meet the performance requirements in different magnetic field environments. We have a vacuum self-dissolving arc melting (VIM) dual-refining equipment that can control the component fluctuations at the ppm level. Ordinary suppliers are limited by the equipment precision and find it difficult to achieve this level.

 

2. Form Customization - Complete process from billet to finished product in one step

Bar materials, wire materials, strip materials, and ingot blanks can all be provided. The dimensions are strictly processed according to the drawings. We have our own hot rolling and cold drawing production lines. From the ingot blank to the finished product, the entire process is completed on the same production line, avoiding cross-contamination caused by external cooperation transfer in the middle. This is crucial for maintaining the purity of superconducting materials.

The grain size and heat treatment regime can be adjusted according to actual needs. For small batches, the delivery time is 5 working days; for large batches, it is 15 working days. We ensure the delivery time by using the rolling production scheduling based on finished product inventory and work-in-progress materials. What are the differences between Nb₃Sn and NbTi superconducting alloys? Which one should I choose?

The critical magnetic field of NbTi is approximately 10T, making it suitable for MRI machines with a field strength of 1.5T and general magnets. It has a lower cost. The critical magnetic field of Nb₃Sn exceeds 20T, making it the only choice for high-field MRI machines above 3T, accelerators, and magnetic levitation. If your equipment requires a field strength above 3T, you must use Nb₃Sn - there is no alternative.

Can your alloy reach the purity level of research-grade?

OK. We conduct two refining processes using vacuum self-consuming arc melting, with the oxygen content controlled within 50 ppm and the carbon content limited to ≤ 30 ppm. This standard is comparable to that of the international leading superconducting wire suppliers, and we provide component test reports for each batch.

What are the requirements for transportation and storage?

Nb₃Sn has stable performance at room temperature and can be transported with conventional sealed packaging. However, it is recommended to avoid contact with strong acids (although it is corrosion-resistant, hydrofluoric acid is an exception). The storage environment requires dryness and no corrosive gases. We will provide vacuum-sealed packaging when shipping.

Can samples be provided for testing?
