Tantalum Fasteners

STANDARD AND CUSTOMIZED, SMALL BATCH AND LARGE BATCH

  • Product Introduction

Products Description

When people talk about tantalum fasteners, the standout feature is always their incredible corrosion resistance and chemical inertness. They actually resist chemicals almost like glass does, but you still get all the typical strength and electrical conductivity of a metal.

They are also a fantastic choice for high-temperature applications, considering tantalum's melting point sits right around 3000°C. Keep in mind, though, that if you're using them above 250°C in an oxygen-rich environment, the metal can become brittle.

Because of this, high-temperature applications need to be run in a vacuum or under inert gas. Beyond industrial uses, tantalum is actually one of the most biocompatible metals available today. And thanks to its heavy density (16.68 g/cm³), it naturally shows up as radio-opaque under X-rays.

Products Feature

At China Super Tech, we design our tantalum fasteners to give you a real edge in demanding environments. Here's what makes them stand out:

Tough against harsh chemicals: They are practically immune to a wide range of acids and chemicals. In fact, if you put them up against popular alternatives like nickel alloys, titanium, or zirconium, our tantalum fasteners actually come out on top for corrosion resistance.

Built for extreme heat: These fasteners hold onto their strength and stiffness remarkably well. In a vacuum or inert gas setting, they can easily handle temperatures up to 2000°C (3600°F) without breaking a sweat.

A quick tip on temperature: Just a heads-up-if you're working above 300°C in an oxygen-rich environment, you'll want to be careful, as the metal can start to become brittle.

Safe and clean: Thanks to the high purity of the materials we use, they offer outstanding biocompatibility, making them a highly reliable choice for sensitive or medical applications.

Need a Custom Tantalum Fastener? Let's Make It Happen

Got a specific part in mind that you can't find off the shelf? We'd be happy to custom-manufacture it for you right here at China Super Tech. The process is actually pretty straightforward:

1. Send Us Your Drawings
Just shoot us your technical drawings, sketches, or even just detailed specs. We need to know the exact dimensions, sizes, and tolerances you're looking for.

2. Pick Your Material
Next, let us know what material fits your project best. Do you need commercially pure tantalum for maximum chemical resistance, or are you looking for a blend-like our Ta-2.5% tungsten alloy-for a bit of extra strength? You tell us what your application demands, and we'll advise on the best fit.

3. We Handle the Rest
Once we have your drawings and material choice locked in, our engineering team takes over. We'll manufacture your custom fasteners to your exact requirements, run our quality checks, and get them ready to ship out to you.

Ready to start? Just drop your drawings in an email, and we'll get back to you with a quote.

Products Specification

Tantalum (Commercially Pure)

Commercially pure tantalum metal 99.95% pure tantalum as a minimum and has the best corrosion resistant properties of any metal

When it come to most acids. While its corrosion resistance is exceptional, it is relatively soft and mechanically similar in strength to copper.

Tantalum 2.5% Tungsten (Ta-2.5W)

This grade of tantalum alloyed with 2.5% tungsten provided better overall strength while maintaining its exception corrosion resistant properties. For tantalum fastener applications this is usually preferred.

FAQ

FAQ

Q: 1. Should I choose pure tantalum or Ta-2.5% tungsten alloy?

A: This mainly depends on your specific operating conditions. If your primary need is corrosion protection (e.g., in strong acid reactors), pure tantalum is definitely the first choice due to its superior chemical stability. However, if you require higher tensile strength and high-temperature resistance in addition to corrosion protection, such as in stressful or high-temperature vacuum equipment, we generally recommend using Ta-2.5% tungsten alloy. Adding 2.5% tungsten significantly improves the hardness and strength of the fastener.

Q: 2. Are there any pitfalls to avoid when using it in high-temperature environments?

A: Tantalum itself has a very high melting point (around 3000°C), and it maintains good strength even at 2000°C in a vacuum or inert gas environment. However, there's a pitfall to be aware of: if the temperature exceeds 250-300°C in an oxygen-rich environment, tantalum will absorb oxygen and become brittle. Therefore, in high-temperature applications, never use it in an oxygen-rich environment; a vacuum or inert gas purging is essential.

Q: 3. Besides standard parts, can you make non-standard custom-shaped parts?

A: Absolutely. At China Super Tech, a large part of our tantalum fastener business is customization. Whether you need regular bolts and nuts, or uniquely shaped parts, as long as you have drawings (CAD, PDF, or hand-drawn sketches), our engineers can assess and produce them. Don't worry about dimensions and tolerances; we will strictly adhere to your drawings.

Q: 4. Will the shipment include a material certificate (MTC/COA) and test report?

A: Yes, this is standard. For every batch and every shipment, we include the original manufacturer's material certificate, which contains detailed chemical composition and physical property data to ensure purity meets standards. If you have special requirements, we can also arrange for a third-party organization (such as SGS) to conduct independent testing and issue a report, ensuring 100% traceability.

Q: 5. Is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) high? How long is the lead time for customized orders?

A: Because it's a precious metal, our MOQ is quite flexible. It's generally calculated based on actual weight or quantity. Even if you only need a few kilograms or a few pieces for sample testing, we can arrange it for you. Regarding delivery time, if it's a standard size in stock, it can usually be shipped within a few days. For custom parts, it depends on the complexity of the drawings, generally taking about 10 to 30 days. Once the drawings are finalized, we will immediately provide you with an accurate schedule.
