Tantalum Flange

We supply tantalum with a purity of 99.95%, and we also have a Ta-2.5W alloy version—with 2.5% tungsten added, which increases strength while maintaining corrosion resistance, making it the first choice for fasteners.

  • Product Introduction

Products Description

Tantalum flanges are pipe fittings made of tantalum metal. You weld them to both ends of the pipe, tighten them with bolts, and place a gasket in between; the pipe is connected without leaks.

Tantalum is a material with a density of 16.68 g/cm³, making it quite heavy. It has a melting point of 2996°C and a boiling point that reaches 6100°C. In a vacuum or inert gas environment, it can withstand temperatures up to 2000°C (3600°F) without issue, maintaining both strength and rigidity.

Typical Applications

These tantalum flanges are a staple in chemical processing (reactors, heat exchangers, acid piping), vacuum furnaces, aerospace, and high-performance electronics.

Because tantalum parts are engineered-to-order based on specific dimensional tolerances, custom fabrication is typically required.

If you are looking to source a specific component, please tell me:What style of flange you need (slip-on, blind, etc.)

Why choose us?

1. We're not a trading company, we're a factory.

We have a complete tantalum processing line, handling everything from material preparation, heating, forming to post-processing. We have over 20 CNC machine tools, milling machines, and drilling machines. We're not the kind of company that takes orders and then outsources the manufacturing.

2. We control the materials ourselves.

We produce tantalum screws, nuts, and washers, in grades Ta1 and Ta2, with purity ranging from 99.9% to 99.95%, and sizes from M1 to M64. The materials used for flanges are from the same source as the fasteners, ensuring consistent quality.

3. Fast delivery.

Standard parts ship within 10 days. If you're in a hurry, let us know in advance, and we'll expedite the production schedule.

4. Expert solutions will be provided.

It's okay if you can't clearly describe the operating conditions. Just send us the temperature, medium, and pressure, and our engineers will help you determine whether to use pure tantalum or Ta-2.5W, whether to use a solid piece or a liner. We'll make it clear all at once.

Tantalum 2.5% Tungsten (Ta-2.5W)

This grade of tantalum alloyed with 2.5% tungsten provided better overall strength while maintaining its exception corrosion resistant properties. For tantalum fastener applications this is usually preferred.

FAQ

FAQ

Q: What are the advantages of tantalum flanges compared to titanium flanges?

A: Look at the data. Titanium has a density of 4.5 g/cm³, while tantalum has 16.68 g/cm³-tantalum is almost four times heavier, but in return, its corrosion rate is zero in more extreme chemical environments. Titanium performs well in seawater and nitric acid, but tantalum is more stable in some strong acid-base mixtures. Also, tantalum is X-ray opaque, which titanium cannot achieve. If you prioritize lightweight construction, choose titanium; if you prefer extreme chemical environments, choose tantalum.

Q: Can it be used at high temperatures in air?

A: No. Tantalum becomes brittle in oxygen above 250°C, and will directly fail above 300°C. High-temperature applications require vacuum or inert gas protection; there's no room for negotiation.

Q: Which should I choose, pure tantalum or Ta-2.5W?

A: Pure tantalum (99.95%) has excellent corrosion resistance, but it's soft, and its mechanical strength is on par with copper. Ta-2.5W contains 2.5% tungsten, significantly increasing its strength while maintaining essentially the same corrosion resistance. Choose Ta-2.5W for fasteners and load-bearing components; use pure tantalum for surfaces exposed to purely corrosive media.

Q: Can you make non-standard sizes?

A: Yes. ANSI, ASME, DIN, and GB standards are all acceptable. We'll schedule production as soon as you send us your non-standard drawings. Flange bolt hole spacing and sealing surface type (raised face, recessed face) can all be customized to your requirements.

Q: What's the fastest lead time?

A: 10 days for standard parts. For large orders, please communicate in advance so we can adjust production line priorities.
