Product Description
Bend Insensitive Multimode Fiber is designed for short-distance, high-bandwidth optical networks where limited space can make fiber bending difficult to avoid. Unlike conventional multimode fiber, its optimized core and surrounding refractive-index structure help keep optical modes confined when the fiber is bent, reducing macrobending loss. OM3, OM4, and OM5 options can support common 850 nm VCSEL-based data transmission applications. China Super Tech Co., Ltd. provides fiber options for data centers, enterprise networks, and other compact indoor communication systems, with specifications matched to the required bandwidth and installation conditions.
Products Description
1. Optimized Optical Structure
The fiber uses a specially designed refractive-index profile around the core. This structure helps prevent light modes from escaping during tight bends, which is the key reason for its improved bend performance compared with conventional multimode fiber.
2. High-Bandwidth OM3/OM4 Options
OM3 and OM4 versions are available for high-speed short-reach networks. Their effective modal bandwidth is designed for laser-based transmission, helping support higher data rates without requiring single-mode fiber for every short connection.
3. More Flexible Equipment Routing
Better macrobend performance gives installers more flexibility when fiber passes through crowded racks, patching areas, or compact cable pathways. It helps reduce the additional loss that can occur when cables are unintentionally bent during installation or maintenance.
4. Controlled Fiber Geometry
China Super Tech controls core and cladding geometry, coating dimensions, and fiber drawing conditions. These parameters affect coupling, splicing, and transmission consistency, helping maintain stable performance between production batches.
5. Standards-Based Compatibility
Suitable OM2/OM3/OM4 multimode designs can be supplied according to applicable IEC, ISO/IEC, TIA, and ITU requirements. This allows customers to select bend-improved fiber without automatically changing compatible 50 μm multimode network equipment.
Product Applications
1. Data Center Rack Connections
High-density racks contain many patch cords and fiber connections in limited space. Bend-optimized multimode fiber helps reduce loss when cables are routed around equipment or when nearby connections are added or rearranged during maintenance.
2. Enterprise LAN Networks
Office network cabinets often have crowded patch panels and short fiber links. Improved bend performance provides additional routing flexibility while maintaining the optical characteristics required for short-reach multimode transmission.
3. Server Room Interconnects
For connections between servers, switches, and patching equipment, cable paths may be short and tightly organized. OM3 or OM4 versions are commonly suited to these 850 nm VCSEL-based short-distance links, provided the selected transceivers and link length are compatible.
4. In-Building Communication Systems
Commercial buildings may require fiber to pass through narrow cable trays, cabinets, or communication outlets. A bend-optimized design can reduce the impact of unavoidable routing bends without encouraging installation below the specified minimum bend radius.
Customization Service
1. OM2, OM3, OM4, or OM5 Selection
China Super Tech can select the appropriate multimode category according to the customer's transceiver, required bandwidth, link distance, and network standard rather than recommending the highest specification by default.
2. Bend Performance Matching
Customers can provide the required bend radius or cable-routing conditions. China Super Tech can match the optical design and coating specification to the application so that bend performance is considered together with bandwidth and compatibility.
3. Customized Coating and Packaging
Natural or colored fiber, coating options, spool dimensions, fiber length, and identification requirements can be customized for cable manufacturers and assembly suppliers.
4. Production Consistency for Repeat Orders
China Super Tech controls key drawing, coating, and dimensional parameters and checks optical and geometric characteristics during production. This helps customers maintain consistent fiber performance when purchasing multiple production batches.

FAQ
1. Is bend-insensitive multimode fiber the same as G.657 fiber?
No. G.657 is primarily a single-mode fiber recommendation. Bend-optimized multimode products are generally specified within the multimode standards and OM categories, such as OM3 and OM4.
2. Should I choose OM3 or OM4?
The choice depends on the transceiver, required data rate, link distance, and bandwidth requirement. OM4 generally provides higher effective modal bandwidth than OM3, so it may provide greater margin for higher-speed short-reach applications.
3. Does bend resistance mean the fiber can be bent anywhere?
No. Bend-optimized fiber reduces additional loss from bending, but it still has a specified minimum bend radius. Installation should follow the manufacturer's recommended limits rather than treating the fiber as impossible to damage.
4. Can it be used with existing 50 μm multimode equipment?
Standards-compliant products are designed to remain compatible with corresponding 50 μm multimode systems. However, the actual fiber grade, transceiver, connector, bandwidth, and link distance should be checked together before deployment.
5. What information should I provide for a quotation?
Provide the required OM grade, transmission wavelength, target data rate, link distance, minimum bend radius, coating requirement, fiber length, and quantity. China Super Tech Co., Ltd. can then recommend a specification that fits the actual network rather than simply supplying a generic multimode fiber.
